Kids Development Events

Joyfest

The “Festival of Philanthropy” popularly known as the Joyfest event extracted the artists in these kids. This national movement aimed at unleashing the joy inside the hearts of these kids over a period of one week. Various colleges, academies, students, teachers, principals and NGOs joined hands to facilitate the weeklong event from 26th Sept, 2010 to 2nd Oct, 2010. We are proud to say that Symbiosis Infotech Campus is now a registered member of Joyfest. It witnessed the participation of 30 kids from the local orphanage ‘“Niradhar Balsangopan Anath Ashram” along with those of our inhouse NGO “Prayatna”. While few kids of class 1 to 8 discovered the artists inside them while painting workshops and cultural performance in the SIC campus, others innocently laughed enjoying the fun games. The glitter in the eyes of the kids brightened while watching the “Tom and Jerry” movie and their tummies were delighted with the sumptuous dinner that followed!!

The Outing Day

Prayatna had a gala time taking the kids for an outing, a picnic, a day when they can give a free rein to all their energy and enthusiasm. They were taken to a riverside nearby the SIC campus, this endeavour aimed at making the kids realize the importance of working in teams which will be essential for their future.

Adding Colors

A painting workshop was conducted for the kids to introduce them to varied colours of life and to move around playing with colours and improve their dexterity.

Loving it with McD

A day out at McDonalds was planned for the kids to experience the flavours they were unknown to. They celebrated Christmas in the same charisma as others of their age do. This was followed by a movie trip to “Toonpur ka Superhero” accompanied by one of the founders, Naresh Poonia.

Collecting Funds

This is a continuous attempt on the part of the Prayatna team to raise funds sufficient enough to make the future of the kids better. Many small and big ideas come together to collect a substantial amount as and when an opportunity arises. We have made and sold bookmarks during Alumni meets and Neev, the business fest event of SCMHRD, and other cultural events of SCIT and SIIB. Besides this, we have sold cold- drinks and put up mehandi stalls during Dandiya night celebrations.

One of the biggest source of contribution came from the Movie Fest organized by the team, where students of SIC campus participated in huge number in purchasing tickets for the movies and cricket matches screened in the SIC auditorium.

Students also supported the cause by organizing and by being part of the Rock Concert held on 15th August.

The unending support and benevolent attitude of all the students of the SIC campus acts as a strong motivator to keep the team moving towards its goal.

Last but not the least, we at Prayatna have also started a ‘Sponsor a Child’ programme. Through this programme, Prayatna partners with individuals and corporations who donate money for the yearly/half yearly study expenses of the child. The sponsorship amount covers the school admission fees, monthly study fees, salary of teacher employed for evening classes, stationery and uniform expenses. We have already got a good response with some of our kids being sponsored annually.
